Guide: storing and displaying your scale models

How do you maintain and present your model collection?

We've all asked ourselves the question: what can I do to avoid damaging my scale model, or perhaps where can I display it to preserve its durability?

Here are two tips to help you maintain and display your model collections.

How do I maintain my scale model?

To clean your model, you can use a soft, non-abrasive microfibre cloth to avoid scratches, and pick up dust dry. You can use a damp cloth to remove stains or other marks, but make sure it is well wrung. Finally, you can use a fine, soft paintbrush to get at the small details (the inside too, for those with openings).

It's possible that you may drop your model or that a pane of glass may come loose. Make sure you always use a model-building glue that's suitable for the material it's made from. There are also special glues for windows.

How and where can you display your model collection?

To maintain their durability, avoid exposing them to direct sunlight, especially resin models.

To admire your collection, a beautiful glass shelf is perfect and practical for collecting less dust. Of course, there are other places where you can proudly display your model collection, such as wall shelves or cupboards.

If you decide to store them in a box or similar, take care not to stack your models on top of each other, to protect them from scratches or other damage.
