Scale of the car model in cm

What is the scale of the model cars in cm ?

Here's a quick guide to the scales available in our online store.

There are different scales for model cars. I'm going to tell you about the most common ones in our shop, but there are others, and the principle remains the same.

Summary of model car scale sizes in cm

To calculate the size of a car model in cm, divide the actual size of the car by the number after the "/" or ":".

For example, if you wanted to know the size of a 1/64th scale Toyota Supra in centimetres, you'd divide its actual size by 64, and so on for each scale. The same applies to all other miniature cars, motorbikes, trucks, etc.

You think that's a lot, don't you? Let's take a closer look at the scale of the car model in centimetres.

How big is the 1/18 scale in cm ?

It depends, as I explained above, whether it's a city car, a supercar or a big American car like the Ford Mustang. In general, 1/18th scale cars are between 20 and 30 cm long.

If it's a diecast* model of a car, it's the ideal size for detailing and has all the openings. Resin models don't have openings but may be better finished and can be more expensive, such as Ignition Model or even more luxurious models such as Exoto.

There are also some excellent diecast miniature cars with very fine finishes. I'm thinking of the Japanese company Kyosho, who have produced a superb fully opening Lamborghini Miura P400SV, or Almost Real with their very good quality models.

The 1/18 scale is great if you like detail but still want a model of reasonable size in centimetres.

*The metal generally used in the world of scale models is a zinc alloy called ZAMAC.

How big is the 1/24 scale in cm ?

Both the model cars and the assembled model kits are about 17 or 18 cm long. Again, it depends on the model.

It's a nice size for me because the miniatures are well detailed, there are openings for the assembled ones, and they're more affordable than the 1/18th scale.

Brands like Jada Toys make great little models that anyone can afford.

The 1/24 scale is also popular for model kits and motorbikes.

How big is the 1/43 scale in cm ?

The 1/43 scale is between 9 and 12 cm. There are many, many models in this size, which is why it is so popular with collectors.

There are often 'magazine' collections in this scale and you can find models with wings. They are available in resin and diecast.

The Solido brand makes quality models, and there are also IXO Models and Norev, among many others.

How big is the 1/64 scale in cm ?

1/64th scale models can be as small as 7.5cm. For example, a 1/64th Mini Cooper is much smaller than a VW T1 van.

It's a scale we like to stock in our web shop because there's an incredible range and the quality and detail of the models is improving all the time. Another advantage is that you can have lots of them because they don't take up much space. Well, they do after a while.

There are a few manufacturers that really stand out in this scale: Inno64, who frankly make excellent, well detailed Japanese models for such a small scale. Mini GT also make beautiful models at attractive prices compared to some of their competitors. There are of course many others.

In our shop this is the most common size.

In conclusion

What is the scale of model cars in cm ?

This, of course, depends entirely on the actual size of the car and the scale. The actual size is divided by the desired scale.
